In the July 1, 2006 edition of the Louisville Courier-Journal, reporter Katya Cengel tells the stories of two KRM clients from Sudan who were recently reunited with family members. Kidnapped and sold into slavery as a small boy after a raid on his village during Sudan's civil war, George Deng spent more than 20 years not knowing whether his father was dead or alive. Resettled in Louisville in 2003 with his wife and children, Deng recently returned to Africa for three months upon learning that his father had been located. For Solomon Aluong John, one of the Sudanese Lost Boys who came to Louisville in 2001, the family reunion took place at the Louisville International Airport.. In 2003 John returned to Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya in order to marry Rhoda Nyanthic. Last week, after a long wait, Nyanthic and the couple's two-year-old son, Mayen, who John had never seen, finally arrived in Louisville.
