v Baskets from Bangladesh
v Clothing from Nepal and Indonesia
v Onyx carvings from Pakistan
v Shona stone carvings from Zimbabwe
v Fair Trade coffee, tea, and chocolate

A percentage of the sales during the Holiday Shopping Night will be donated to Kentucky Refugee Ministries, a refugee resettlement agency dedicated to providing resettlement services to refugees in order to promote self-sufficiency and successful integration into our community.

North End Cafe Partners with KRM in August
North End Café (The NEC) has instituted a Community Service Program (see their website ). During the month of August, The NEC is urging members of the community to donate back-to-school goods to several charities including KRM. In return for their help, each guest to donate will receive a coupon redeemable for a free dessert at The NEC!
Items needed are: folders with pockets, notebooks (wide ruled and college ruled), packages of loose-leaf paper, 3x5 index cards, glue sticks, liquid glue, #2 pencils, colored pencils, crayons, markers, highlighters, rulers, scissors (blunt point for young children), cap erasers, calculators, 3-ring binders, 3-ring Pocket dividers (for binders), ballpoint pens, and graph paper.
Donations of school uniforms are always gratefully accepted! Here’s a list of uniform items that are acceptable for (almost) every JCPS uniform policy: collared shirts (white, navy, or powder blue—no visible logos allowed); sweaters or sweatshirts (white or navy blue); pants, shorts, shorts, skirts, or jumpers (khaki or navy blue—no cargo style pants); belts (black, brown, or navy blue); closed-toed shoes; and socks and underwear (this isn’t exactly part of the uniform policy, but our kids need these items!).
KRM sincerely thanks North End Cafe for its support of refugee children.
Refugee kids in KRM's Summer Youth Program 2009 learn to count in English.
