Volunteer

Since the ultimate goal of our clients is the self-sufficiency of our clients, volunteers are an indispensable part of the collective resettlement process. The KRM staff can only provide the essentials, while our dedicated volunteers further ease the difficult transition to a new culture and life-style. We are commiteed to the use of volunteers in all of our programming.

Working with children in the summer is rewarding and fun!

What are the requirements to become a volunteer?

Our ideal volunteer possesses patience, cultural sensitivity, flexibility, and a sense of humor. Previous experience is not required; we provide any needed training. Availability on week-days is important as our greatest needs are during office hours.

How much time would I commit to volunteering?

Volunteer positions generally fall into two categories: long-term and occasional, or on-call. Long-term positions require weekly schedules and an initial commitment of three months is preferred. This provides consistency for both staff and clients. On-call commitments are best for volunteers with limited availability.

For more information on volunteering, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Cassie Kennedy.

URGENT NEEDS!

KRM currently needs: twin and double beds (frames, mattresses and box springs), kitchen tables & chairs, pots and pans, and toiletries. Please contact Gaby Salazar at 479-9180 ext. 15, gsalazar@kyrm.org, if you have such items to donate.
