Volunteer

Since the ultimate goal of our clients is the self-sufficiency of our clients, volunteers are an indispensable part of the collective resettlement process. The KRM staff can only provide the essentials, while our dedicated volunteers further ease the difficult transition to a new culture and life-style. We are commiteed to the use of volunteers in all of our programming.

Working with children this summer proved to be rewarding and fun!

What are the requirements to become a volunteer?

Our ideal volunteer possesses patience, cultural sensitivity, flexibility, and a sense of humor. Previous experience is not required; we provide any needed training. Availability on week-days is important as our greatest needs are during office hours.

How much time would I commit to volunteering?

Volunteer jobs generally fall into two categories: long-term jobs and occasional, or on-call, jobs. Long-term jobs require weekly schedules and an initial commitment of three months is preferred. This provides consistency for both staff and clients. On-call commitments are best for volunteers with limited availability.

For more information on volunteering, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Shelley Dewig.

URGENT!

Travel Near and Far is the theme of this year's Global Gourmet, KRM's annual fundraiser. If you have a Silent Auction service or item you would like to donate for this year's event, please contact Elizabeth Kaznak at 479-9180 x52.

KRM currently needs kitchen tables and chairs, dressers, and bed spreads and comforters of all sizes for newly-arriving refugee families. If you have such items to donate, contact Gaby Salazar at 479-9180 ext. 15, gsalazar@kyrm.org
