Programs

Kentucky Refugee Ministries offers a variety of services and programs to its clients and the community. These programs are designed to make the transition to life in the United States more manageable.

Immigration and Naturalization Services
KRM will assist with applications for permanent residency, travel documents, employment authorization documents, citizenship, and many other immigration petitions. This program is open to the community.

In addition, KRM offers free Citizenship Preparation classes to help prepare applicants for their naturalization interview.

Cultural Orientation
Cultural Orientation provides information and suppor to our clients to assist in their transition. Weekly one-hour sessions provide clients the opportunity to hear professionals in the community speak on a variety of subjects. Topics range from how to buy a car, to how to save money when grocery shopping.

English as a Second Language Classes (ESL)

ESL classes are provided for employable or currently employed adults who are being served by KRM. Classes are designed to facilitate employment language acquisition.

 

 

Youth Services
The Youth Services Program works to connect students, parents, schools, and the Louisville community. KRM assists with school registration, finding tutors, and serves as a liason between parents in schools. In addition, KRM participate in Building Futures, a program that matches immigrant and refugee youth with volunteer tutors to work on literacy skills.

Employment Services
Employment services provides assistance with preparation, placement, and upgrading in the work place. They assist with applications and interviews, transportation, translation, and orientation.

 
URGENT NEEDS!

KRM currently needs: twin and double beds (frames, mattresses and box springs), kitchen tables & chairs, pots and pans, and toiletries. Please contact Gaby Salazar at 479-9180 ext. 15, gsalazar@kyrm.org, if you have such items to donate.
